Dehradun and the wider Uttarakhand region are in the news with several important developments. The Uttarakhand government has created the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority (USMEA) to replace the Madrasa Board and standardize minority education by integrating institutions into the state education system starting July 2026, a major reform in education policy. In response to rising safety concerns after recent violent incidents, the Director General of Police held a high-level meeting on law and order and suspended two Sub-Inspectors for negligence to strengthen policing and crime control in Dehradun. Additionally, Uttarakhand has set a record annual tourist count exceeding six crore since state formation, reflecting strong growth in tourism. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand PCS main examinations are scheduled from April 27, attracting aspirants across the state.
